REHADAT - Information System on Vocational Rehabilitation
REHADAT is an information system supporting the vocational integration of disabled persons that has been commissioned by the Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales (Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs) and was established by the Institut
der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln (Cologne Institute for Economic Research).
Detailed information about various aspects of the vocational rehabilitation is available from eight databases designed for use by disabled people as well as professionals involved in rehabilitation.
Information about the Technical Aids database:
This database can be searched in German and English. The descriptions of the products are available in English (either transalted manually or by machine).
Documenting more than 20,000 products the database contains most of the technical aids for disabled persons that are available in Germany.
The range of technical aids covers aids for housekeeping, orthoses and prostheses, adapted machines and tools etc. Not only does it include entries detailing manufacturer, distributor and price, but it also provides technical descriptions and information on the reimbursement of costs by health insurance organisations. Contact details of manufacturers or distributors also contain the e-mail addresses and homepages of the companies as links that can be accessed directly from the database. Many documents are supplemented by graphics and pictures.
Further information on technical aids in other REHADAT databases is provided by links in the individual texts. The documentation for the REHADAT Technical Aids database is supplied by three
The database structure is based on the international classification ISO 99 99, "Technical aids for disabled persons".
The database is continuously updated. Data records: 0 documents. Last update: 05.2011.
All database entries are recorded free of charge. On receipt of the product documentation the information is entered or updated in close co-operation with the documentation centres. Only products that are distributed or available in Germany are registered in the database.
Suggestions and recommendations for improving and extending the database are welcome.

Information about the Case Studies database:
This database can be searched in German and English. Almost 60% of the documents are manually translated into English. For the other documents the descriptions of the case studies will be translated automatically.
The database documents examples of successful vocational integration measures for disabled persons that have already been put into practice.
About 1,000 case studies describe the situation of people with different disabilities and their individual integration into the workplace. The documentation is extensive and often supplemented by pictures and graphics.
Each case study contains information on the ergonomic and organisational layout of the workplace as well as the technical aids needed to adapt the working environment for the disabled person. In addition, specific training and supervision requirements are described. Finally, there is a description of the disability and the resulting functional limitations.
The database is widely recognised in Germany and abroad. It aims at documenting as many cases as possible in order to illustrate the huge potential for vocational integration of persons with disabilities. We are therefore grateful for all new cases made known to us for this purpose and guarantee absolute anonymity of all personal data.
